Create, grow, and sustain a research program that supports the trauma center and department of general surgery; driving research initiatives focused on health disparities and improving outcomes.
Provide infrastructure that enables researchers to submit quality proposals to funding agencies (DoD, CDC, PCORI, and NIH).Â
Develop collaborations with pharmaceutical and medical device companies to support research and improve patient outcomes.
Develop incentives and performance measures to foster a creative work environment that promotes scientific research and facilitates research endeavors of trainees and faculty.
Ensure the department meets scholarly activity requirements for trauma and burn verification and residency accreditation, ensuring compliance with research and publication standards.
Foster new research initiatives by identifying research opportunities and critically analyzing proposed research projects for feasibility and scientific rigor.
Draft manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, collaborating with research team members to compile and present research findings effectively.
Provide statistical support and expertise in data analysis.
Analyze, evaluate, and prepare department clinical and academic research projects for IRB submissions, publications, and presentations, ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Oversee and support the training and development of general surgery residency education and evaluating program effectiveness.
